Server Software

WinGate cooperates well with other server software. See the general section Integrating WinGate with other Servers .

This section deals with setting up specific Server applications. These notes instruct on how to make use on the Non proxy capabilities of WinGate. This involves running the actual server on a different port, and telling WinGate to use that server for suitable requests. This has many advantages over changing the WinGate proxy port number, allowing rules to apply to use of the server and the proxy. Plus the ability to handle both request types on a single port, reduces the need to reconfigure client software.

You will notice that in this section we refer to ‘localhost’ rather than WinGate. This applies if you are running the server software on the WinGate machine. If this is not the case, use the name wingate.
