America On Line

Thanks to Dean Henderson for this:

If you use TCP/IP to connect to America Online, there is a text file called TCP.CCL in the CCL folder (if you are using a Mac, the file is called TCPack - in Online Files folder) that contains a line with the following:

NetConnect 1 5190 10 AmericaOnline.aol.com The 5190 value is the Port # and

AmericaOnline.aol.com is the TCP/IP name.

On each client system, you can change the name in the CCL file to the name of your wingate system, or add an entry to your HOSTS files having AmericaOnline.aol.com point to your wingate system. With GateKeeper, add a Mapped Link with the Listening port set to 5190, the Remote Host set to

AmericaOnline.aol.com, and the Remote Port set to 5190.

Now you should be ready to Logon to America Online.

This from Patrick Jeski

To access AOL when wingate is down, modify your TCP.CCL as such:

WAS:

DsplyPic 1

NetConnect 1 5190 10 AmericaOnline.aol.com

Pause 100

Now:

DsplyPic 1 Netconnect 1 5190 10 wingate

pause 100

NetConnect 1 5190 10 AmericaOnline.aol.com

Pause 100

No other changes to hosts files were made. So if WinGATE is not running, AOL will connect directly (TCP

DUN) or fault out. After AOL fails on "wingate", it tries "AmericaOnline.aol.com" before giving a fault

message.
