Adding a dialer profile

WinGate uses the Windows phonebook entries to dial and log in to your service provider

1. Connect to WinGate with GateKeeper with Administrator privileges.

2. Double click on the dialer icon.

3. You will be presented with the WinGate Dialer Properties dialog. Choose Add to add an entry, and in the dialog that is presented, enter appropriate values.

4. Click OK to exit.

New entries are created with the default access rights granted to everyone. If you want to restrict access to this dialer entry, then you should select the access tab, and specify the access rights you wish to use.

Note:

You can configure different phonebook entries in WinGate to use the same DUN phonebook entry. If you do this, you will not be able have different access levels for these profiles. This is because all WinGate phonebook entries that use the same DUN phonebook entry will be deemed on-line at the same time if any one of these is invoked.

You can get around this by creating multiple DUN phonebook entries, and making sure you do not assign the same DUN phonebook entry to more than one WinGate phonebook entry.

Access note:

If you have phonebook entries specified in WinGate, you may set access restrictions on them. If any client connected to WinGate then makes a request that does not satisfy the access restrictions of any phonebook entry, the request will be denied. An error message is given that the user does not have access to any active dialer entry.

If you have no dialer profiles, then there is no denial. Depending on the operating system you are running WinGate on, you may be able to use the dial-on-demand feature of the operating system. If you do so, then you should disable all dial on demand in WinGate. You can do this by removing or disabling all WinGate phonebook entries.
