eScan - Features - Virus Scanning

Heuristic/Reference Scanning
eScan has a powerful Anti-Virus engine that scans your system for virus, worms trojans and other threats. The various features include:
  • Heuristic Analysis: A virus-infected file displays suspicious behavior, has strange code or content. eScan is built to recognize such files. Heuristic analysis of your system reveals any file, folder or application, which appears strange to the application. Such files can be either deleted or quarantined. You can then mail a copy of this file to us and we will analyze it and come back to you with a solution

  • Reference Analysis: Known viruses are identified by their code called virus signatures. Our software has a vast database of over 50,000 known viruses. Reference Analysis creates a checksums of files that are analyzed and refers to these sums the next time an analysis is performed. This allows eScan to detect unknown viruses.

Select File Type: eScan scans all types of file formats. This includes file types like: BAT, JS, MIRC, Inf, PHP, pdf, doc, ppt, etc.

These features are found in Monitor Settings > eScan Monitor Settings > Analysis > Objects

Scan File types
eScan scans all file types. A default file type list is present in the application. You can add new file types as required. eScan allows you to select actions that are run when an infected file is detected. These actions can be configured separately when scanning is done as per the schedule or for immediate scanning. When an infected file is detected, you can choose to: record the details, stop search, remove virus immediately, delete infected file or quarantine the infected file. Settings can be done for both heuristic scan and reference analysis.

The feature is found in Start eScan for Windows > Options > Virus Check (Tab)

Scheduled Scanning
eScan allows you to set a schedule to begin auto scanning of your whole system or selected files and folders. You can specify actions that should be run for infected files: Quarantine, Delete or Disinfect. You can begin scanning immediately or select the period (once, hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or at system start up). You can also select the hour and minute when scanning should start automatically.

The feature is found in Start eScan for Windows > ODS > Schedule > Add New Task (button)
